Where do I start ? First off , this is a 1976 Rickenbacker Model 481 S . If you're a Rush fan you know Geddy played a black Rickenbacker 4001 from the early 70's , this is basically the guitar version of the bass - the serial number on this one is 2112 !!!
You don't see this model too often , with the cresting wave body and distinctive headstock design this guitar makes a statement , add on the slanted fret design and you have one of the most unique guitar designs of the era . Rickenbacker determined that Rock and Roll players didn't have the best technique , the idea being that most players didn't attack the fingerboard straight on but at an angle so slanting the frets would make for a more comfortable hand position , works for me . The guitar is all original , both Ricky humbuckers sound great with a factory phase reversal switch adding to the tone combinations . The pickguard has some stress fractures but is solid , the finish is in good shape with minor players wear .
