I saw Son Volt at the Horseshoe Tavern in the mid 90's and man it was awesome , a complete wall of sound and the best guitar tones I have heard .
Here are a couple of Kay Truetone guitars owned and played by Jay Farrar of Son Volt .Both guitars are single pickup Kay's with Jay's preferred Hofner staple pickup in the neck and a transducer under the bridge , both have their own separate volume with no tone control and do require a stereo cable to have both pickups working at the same time . The tone of the guitars are really amazing , it has a real acoustic quality with an electric guitar edge that really cuts . Both guitars come with Certificates of Authenticity.
