Here is a cool 1958 Hardtail Fender Stratocaster , this one has all the important bits that you want in a 50's Stratocaster . The guitar has had some work done over the years so here we go ! By 1958 Fender had transitioned from Bakelite to plastic , single ply pickguard , knobs ,pickup covers and 3 way switch tip are original to '58'. All 3 pickups are original to the guitar , the 3 way switch is also original , the volume pot dates to 1976 with the 2 tone pots dating to 1958 . At some point the tuners were changed which left a few extra holes on the back of the headstock , the originals are back on . The bridge, saddles ,neck plate and jack plate are original to the guitar . The guitar has been refretted with larger frets , during the refret the neck and headstock were oversprayed and the decal was changed 😞, the pencil date on the end of the neck is still visible and dates 4-58. At some point the pickup cavities were slightly widened , it looks like they tried to change the direction of the pickups in the cavity and scraped away some wood to accommodate this . It took a while to determine if the finish is original , in many respects it does look good but we feel after some comparisons with other late 50's blonde Strat's that it has been oversprayed or possibly refinished many years ago . All said this guitar sounds amazing and plays great .
